Hospital Information System
CareOS runs OPD, IPD, emergency, operation theatre, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, blood bank, billing and insurance on a single patient record — so a vital charted at the bedside reaches the discharge summary, the claim and the audit trail without anyone retyping it.
ABDM-ready · NABH · HL7 FHIR R4 · HIPAA · DPDP Act
The problem
A registration package here, a lab system there, pharmacy on a desktop application, claims in a spreadsheet, and a discharge summary typed from scratch because nothing talks to anything. The cost isn’t licence fees — it’s the duplicate data entry, the lost claims, the reconciliation at month end, and the clinician who can’t see yesterday’s result.
The test was done at 4pm. The result reached the consultant at 9am the next morning, on paper, after the round had finished. The gap CareOS is built to close
Capabilities
Every module writes to the same encounter. Turn on what you need today; the rest stay dark until you switch them on.
Standards & compliance
Compliance is a property of the data model, not a report generated at the end of the quarter. Every clinical and financial record carries its coding, consent and audit trail from the moment it is created.
HIP and HFR registration, ABHA linking, consent-based record sharing to the national health stack.
Resource-level API for Patient, Encounter, Observation, Medication and Claim. Analysers over HL7 / ASTM.
Coded diagnosis and procedures at the point of entry, so claims and statutory returns need no back-coding.
Modality worklist, study storage, web viewer and shareable study links.
Indicator tracking, checklists, incident reporting and infection surveillance mapped to chapter requirements.
Consent records, purpose limitation, encryption at rest and in transit, data residency controls.
Role-based access, break-glass with logging, immutable audit trail on every clinical and financial record.
IRN generation, HSN/SAC on service masters, TDS, and statutory register exports.
Who it’s for
A three-doctor polyclinic and a 700-bed tertiary centre need the same patient record and very different everything else. Modules, roles and tariffs are configuration, not a separate product.
OPD, prescription, billing and teleconsultation on day one. Runs on a single machine or fully hosted.
The full OPD–IPD–pharmacy–lab loop with PM-JAY and TPA claims, built to keep working when the link drops.
Multi-branch with central masters, PACS, ICU device capture, OT scheduling, NABH reporting and revenue-cycle depth.
FHIR-first interoperability, ICD-11, multi-currency and multi-language, with regional compliance packs.
Implementation
Hospital software fails when everything is switched on at once. CareOS is sequenced so each stage is useful on its own and the department is trained before the next one starts. The order below is the real dependency order.
UHID, front desk, queue, cash counter and day-close. The hospital’s revenue starts flowing through the system before any clinical change is asked of anyone.
Consultants move onto structured notes and orders. Prescriptions become data, which is what makes pharmacy and lab worth switching on next.
Stock, batch and expiry go live alongside sample tracking and analyser interfacing. Orders raised in Stage 2 now land directly in both departments.
Bed management, eMAR, nursing charting and the discharge summary. The heaviest change-management stage, and the one that needs Stages 1–3 already trusted.
Pre-auth, claims, PM-JAY and denial management — built on clinical data the earlier stages are now producing cleanly.
The specialised departments, each with its own register and statutory requirements, plus PACS and device integration.
Management dashboards, ambient documentation, ABDM exchange and the open API — all of which need the preceding stages generating real data first.
Platform
Django and Django REST Framework on PostgreSQL, with Celery for background work. A stack you can hire for in any city, and audit line by line.
The same build runs in your server room or in a managed region. Containerised, with docker compose for a single site and Kubernetes for a chain.
Registration, billing and pharmacy keep operating on the local node and reconcile when connectivity returns — designed for real Indian hospital networks.
One deployment serves many branches with shared masters, per-branch tariffs and strict data isolation between tenants.
Every module exposes REST and FHIR endpoints with webhook events, so your accounting, CRM or research pipeline is never locked out.
Full schema documentation, scheduled exports in open formats, and no charge to leave. Vendor lock-in is a clinical risk, not a business model.
